About Us

Thanks for visiting Survival Empire! We aim to provide a welcome cyber-home for preppers, survivalists, and people who are interested in increasing their own self-reliance. Whether you’re brand new to the world of survival or reading this from inside a reinforced bunker, we hope you’ll find something that sparks your interest.

A Prepper for All Seasons

Preppers have become something of a fad recently, but Survival Empire isn’t looking to ride the wave of a trend. We firmly believe that the information here is useful, purposeful, and essential to a well-rounded American life. You don’t have to believe that the end of the world is coming to find relevance in the tips provided here. One of the biggest misconceptions about the survival lifestyle is that it’s only for conspiracy theorists and extremists. Not true at all. One look at the state of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is all you need to see that preparedness is the wise choice.

Connecting to an Earlier Time

Besides, we believe that America has lost something as we become increasingly reliant on the comforts of modern-day society. Not that we don’t enjoy our smartphones and HDTVs, but we’re not convinced that technology can replace the fundamental skills, hobbies, and pastimes that used to be commonplace. Is there any comparison between a four-hour Netflix marathon and a hunting trip? Maybe some people think so, but we don’t. Part of the prepper lifestyle involves getting back in touch with the old ways.

And the fact is, you never know. If the thought of societal collapse seems like science fiction, it’s only because we’ve never experienced one. That doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. Mother Nature has proven that man’s weak excuses for power can be thwarted in an instant. Hurricanes, volcanoes, famine, drought, and earthquakes can wreak unimaginable havoc. Then there are the man-made disasters. Nuclear meltdown, war, terrorist attacks, cyber-attacks…these are the shadows that hang over our nice, comfy modern lives. An event big enough to erase the facade of civilization may never come to pass. Then again…wouldn’t you rather be ready?

But let’s say you don’t believe those scenarios are worth worrying about. Let’s say you’d rather take your chances. That’s fine! There is one good reason to dabble in survival regardless of your optimism: it’s fun! No, it really is. Learning how to live off the land, farm, tie knots, hunt game, and build an arsenal is a blast. It puts hair on your chest! It makes you feel alive in a way that computers and televisions and soft couches never will.

But enough with the hard sell. If you’re here, you’re probably already among the converted. We take the concept of survivalism seriously here, but not too seriously. Relax, have fun, and look around. If you’ve got something to say, jump into the comments and let us hear you. One of the greatest things about the prepper lifestyle is the camaraderie.

Thanks once again for joining us at Survival Empire!
